High Value You

I value what you think of me…
I value the things you say to me…
The words you speak are like bricks building a wall in me…
You are growing me…
But… if you think the worse of me…
If you speak badly to me…
You could destroy me…
When the one I look to, now looks down on me…
My high value of you…
Your low value of me…

I Pray For Parking Space:

Have you ever become seriously annoyed or impatient upon entering a busy area and not being able to locate a parking space?

Some people even become frustrated to the point where they turn their vehicles around and head back home.

It is not a surprise, then, that in the most recent report on reasons why people in the USA choose to attend one church over another, parking tops the list.

I learned this a long time ago - if it’s important enough to make you cuss and swear, pray about it.

Twelve years ago in Orlando, Florida, while we were on one of our family vacations. My sister and her husband joined us. I remember each time we would come in from shopping, my sister's husband would get very fussy about the parking. There were even times he would say the opposite of what he wanted -- like we all do at times.

One day he blurted out, “I will not get a good parking space.” Of course we all know what a good parking space means. For those who don’t it is getting a spot very close to your destination or the main entrance.

I think you know the result on that day.

After a while, I said to him, “You should speak what you want, instead of the other way around. Furthermore you should pray each time.” I prayed, and we received the best spot you could get on the block.

Today, as I travelled into one of the busiest plazas in Kingston, JAMAICA, I said to my two sons, ages 7 and 2. “Let us pray for a parking spot.” I then whispered a prayer.

We drove past an entire section and saw no available parking. In fact, we passed several cars stopped on the side of the roadway with the drivers in their seats and the engines running.

We drove around to the other side of the lot, and I slowed, not seeing any sign of a parking space. Then suddenly, the brake lights of a white minivan came on, as he was reversing, a BMW car up ahead was coming out as well, then an SUV, and finally, a grey car.

It was almost hilarious, as they all had to wait for the one car slightly ahead to get out before they could complete their reversing.

This also had the advantage of me having four spaces available to me all at once without the threat of being run over.

I could choose between shade or 100% sun. It felt good and my older son celebrated as I said, “That is why I pray for parking space.”

I would rather praise or pray rather than use my energies to fight on my own over what isn't going the way I want it to.

Today, make that conscious choice to pray when next you drive into a car park. You too will realize it does more for you than any other response; plus you develop an excellent spirit.

At some point in your life...

At some point in your life you will receive dreams and visions; telling you there is something greater for you to accomplish.

At some point in your life you may decide you are no longer satisfied with the ordinary. A greater call is bidding you to come up higher.

At some point in your life you will learn the value of counting your blessings one at a time.

At some point in your life you will be surrounded by envy, jealous and malicious critical attitudes.

At some point in your life you will be terrorised by the things others say to you and blown away by what they dare to say about you.

At some point in your life what you have said about others will meet you around the corner so make sure it’s something good.

At some point in your life you will know how to forgive and let it go. Relishing the gift of freedom and desiring every day to be filled with perfect peace.

At some point in your life you will appreciate music like you ought to have been all this time.

At some point in your life you will fail and make mistakes. The ‘perfect’ ones will then quickly condemn you.

At some point in your life you will have in your circle of friends, the self-righteous, the judgmental and those who will do just about anything to put you down and out.

At some point in your life your eyes will see the beauty of what GOD has surrounded you with.

At some point in your life you will value loyalty and sincere friendships.

At some point in your life you will recognise what you had when it’s too late.

At some point in your life your body suffers afflictions.

At some point in your life you will realise not everyone is willing to make happen for you what you make happen for them.

At some point in your life you will be filled with joy if you seek it hard enough.

At some point in your life all you will hold on to is a song, a promise or the hope of better.

At some point in your life the hands you healed will slap you in the face.

At some point in your life, those who you have chosen will reject you, betray you or even lie on you.

At some point in your life your fantasies will drive away your realities.

At some point in your life you tell your story for pity.

At some point in your life you realised how common this is in every city.

At some point in your life you will want more than anything else, a change and you must chart a new route or a different path.

These may not all happen to you at some point in your life.

But whatever happens, find your soil, live and flourish, at some point in your life.

At some point in your life, you meet GOD.

Dishonourable Speaking - Reflections of the heart

What if the tongue you used to slay others was also slaying you slowly?

If everytime you would critically rip to pieces politicians, leaders, management, people in the news, your church, your friends, associates or family the resulting effect would be a huge scar on your face or in your soul, would you still be as careless with what you purport about others?

The self talk you have will always determine your level of happiness or misery. The issues in your heart you will always want to speak, regardless of whether they are true or not.

There is also the tendency to believe too that even if something might be factual it is OK to become dishonourable with our speaking. So we spread facts and lies with little or no care for the persons we speak about.

There are missing fathers from several homes but God does not excuse us being disrespectful to the male not being present.

One Church Minister shared how her husband was inside preaching at an event while she sat outside for 6 hours listening to gossip.

She said she didn't do anything except listen so what could be so bad about that. Later on that night as she prepared for bed she tried to pray but realised that something had gone terribly wrong. God was not responding to her.

This continued for a week, until God eventually took her on a journey through a vision to show her the largest solid waste and garbage disposal dump yard in the city of Kingston and said: "That's you."

You see, even though she was only the recipient of the gossip it had the destructive impact of desecrating her temple and made her stink.

When we are hurting, pressured or offended there can be a stronghold set up to make us do evil we never imagined.
Our speaking easily set traps for us and for others.

In wanting to speak about our pain we all too often create additional pain for ourselves and others and new ones too.

Today, guard your heart and put a watch on your mouth. James describe the tongue as deadly poison but he also said this:
James 5.19-20.asv "My brethren, if any among you err from the truth, and one convert him; let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins."

When next you feel impressed to talk about issues of your heart, commit to 'building and not killing'.

Speaking life even in the face of death are among the attitudes and characteristics of the believers of Jesus Christ.

If you wouldn't want it return to you, then commit to never send it out in the first place. Honourable people speak honour and dishonorable people will always speak dishonour.

Today I Cleaned my Shoes

You might be wondering what is so special about cleaning my shoes on this occasion.

Like many other times I have done before, I took up my black pair of dressing shoes and started to wipe them with a soft damp cloth. I then proceeded to applying polish for a lasting shine.

The truth is, its not about the clean pair of shoes.
I was taught while attending the prestigious Kingston College that a dirty shoe is an indication of a dirty mind.

The late Mr. Hemmings would ritually have the entire class stand up while he walked around and inspect our shoes.
If your shoe was not clean or tidy then you would need to exit the class and have it remedied.

This resulted in some students packing their shoe polish and brush in their school bags.

How far would you go to have your hair or face looking good?
Do you place as much emphasis on maintaining a clean mind and heart?

Today I am so grateful for this focus I received as a teenager. I implore my sons and daughters to do the same.

A clean pair of shoes may not say your heart is clean but it sure does make you want to consider taking the time and making the effort to keep your heart and mind clean just as you would any other part of your visible body.

I pray you have a day filled with clean hands, pure hearts and mind free from dirt.

In this relay call: LIFE

In This Relay called: LIFE

Ships come and ships go
People come into our lives
And so too, they go.
The more we understand
The less we seem to know

We meet people who walk with us
Through the good and bad
Pressing on together, victory is a must
Trained together, worked with each other
Living with expectancy of God's divine plan

Moments of great jubilation
Moments of pain and strife
Moments of trials and tribulation
Moments of overcoming
Moments of liberation

Then one day in this race of life
Running, walking, skipping and jumping
Your colleague, your friend, your family, your neighbour
Hands you the baton to continue Continue your leg of the relay

Know when you have been handed the baton
Your predecessor is out of the race, the relay.
Now your time to run and so you must run your leg well
For you will never see that dear one again until
Until you reach the finish line.

Aim to finish
Finish well so you can join the celebration at the end
Finish well so you can join the Lord of the relay
He ran His and is alive again
Now my friend, though the pain and sorrow lingers
Know God is God of all

In this relay of life
Don't just do it
Do it right
Don't just run
Run with all your heart, all your might

A Brand New Day Awaits You...

A brand new day awaits you…

A brand new day awaits you…
They call it tomorrow…

A brand new day awaits you…
Free of worry, trials and sorrow…

A brand new day awaits you…
You can sing sweet melody like the sparrow…

A brand new day awaits you…
After all this, a new season must begin…

A brand new day awaits you…
This fight, this struggle, you will win

Your HEART

Guard what it HEARS,
Guard what it SEES,
And guard what it BELIEVES,
Everything you DO flows from it

Cling-To-Me-

Cling To Me

By Jermaine Gordon

Like the fuzz to the cloth

Satisfied like spicy vegetable broth

Like fabric to the body

Cling to me

Embrace me

Like the glue to paper

Like the buttocks to textile under

Cling to me

Sweetness my dreaminess

That draws me to you

Make me want to surrender

Cling to me

Be a ring on my finger

My refreshing

Fermented cider

Cling to me

A backward-front glance

Giving my heart this perfect chance

Cling to me

Drive me

Steer me

Emotionally chain me

Whatever you do, cling to me

Journey

Every journey starts at the beginning

Every journey stops at the end

In between each beginning

And each end

You no doubt will find new allies

Make new foes

And make yourself some new friends

~ *~ * ~*~

Not every journey requires walking

Not every journey requires driving

But each journey requires leaving, moving or changing

Otherwise, how will we get there if we don’t leave?

~ *~ * ~*~

If there is no departing,

Then there can be no arriving

If there is no persevering

There is hardly gonna be any achieving

~ *~ * ~*~

A journey starts not with mounting a horse

Or sailing a ship o’er and down a new path

A journey begins with a made up mind

A determination one must within their heart and soul find

~ *~ * ~*~

A noble traveler

Stays the course amidst the rough wind

Sail on, find the strength within

Let God be your guide

Beneath His wings let your soul hide

When the journeying is done,

Its not where you have been

But how did you run

To Love and Not Live

We hurt the ones we love by the things we say, or the things we didn’t say…
They feel excruciating pain from the things we do, or we just didn’t do…
A scar is made from expectations they never expressed and which were never met…

Oh Love ! Answer me these three questions: Is love not painful?
Is not love the greatest source of joy?
Is not love the greatest source of sorrow?
How we crave much from those who love us and those we love too…
How we think so much of the little things they say or do and what these mean too…

Though to live and not love is to grow with a hole in your heart…
Though to love and not live is to grow dreams apart…
I would rather to love and be burnt and live and be hurt than never to love and never to live…

She is Crying

She is crying, she is sobbing
Hurt by love
She pity herself
Harmed by care
Disarmed by control
She grows bitter
Angry and cold
For love is brother to pain
For love is fire to one
Love drives another insane
She wants her love
But he is avoiding
Perhaps hiding
Behind her unforgiving heart
She tells her secret to man pushing a hand cart
A bird took it and went off
Now she feels hated
Not real
Adopted pain
 In a dream
All in her dream
Now she awakes
A knife in her hand
Blood on the fan
A mourning dove
Why do we hurt the ones we love

Inspiration from my cousin

How often do you get into trouble because of words you have used, whether directly or indirectly?

Today one of my cousins read my online profile for my first book and was so moved by the work that she decided to encourage me with Titus 2: 8.
I want to share both verse 7 and 8 with you which reads:
"Always set an example for others by doing good works.
Teach with integrity and dignity.
Use wholesome speech that cannot be condemned. Then any opponent will be ashamed because he cannot say anything bad about us." - NIV

Some times persons scuff at good works and say we are not saved by our good works, but good works could make the difference between we ending up on the right side or not. Good works could make the difference in us being effective witnesses or not. What do I mean by that?

Have you noticed carefully what is happening around us? People have reached a stage where they are able to deceive themselves so much that acts which were once considered out rightly forbidden are now being entertained and permitted in some quarters. I find that in my own life, if I bring my body to obey the word of God and I continue to obey and do the right, then it suddenly becomes much easier than harder.  The reverse is also true.

If we indulge in perverted speaking, it becomes easier and easier to do it. Today almost every other word in the English language is being given some 'sexual' reference or connotation. If we refuse to go down that road we can save ourselves from the pain of lust, perverted talking and fowl conversations.

Ultimately, the child of God desires to be obedient to God and His word, therefore we must keep our mouth.  Our thoughts, words, actions, play time and serious times must remain pure and without condemnation. Doing the wrong things under the disguise of 'fun' is a deceptive technique applied by the great Deceiver over and over again. Don’t be fooled, and don’t fall for his lies.

Let us be examples in our speech and the deeds we perform on a daily basis. Let us ask God to forgive us and allow us to live with integrity in our work place, schools and colleges, our communities and our homes.

My cousin did not write out the scripture at all she simply placed the scripture reference in the subject of her email. Because of the desire in me for the word of God It caught my attention and energy and the ultimate result is this blog.  It really was as simple as that. It is the same method used in the devils deceptions, he sets the bait and we bite it and get caught.  Don’t bite the bait, be conscious of his devises.

I Am a Seed

Planted
Nurtured
Lived

Germinated
Matured
Fruitful and now it gives

A word spoken
A kind deed given
These are precious seeds

I am a seed
So too are you
Whose seed do you carry?

I am a seed of another seed
You carry a sown seed
It determines how you live and who you marry

Plant a seed for change,
It may not grow in your life time
But plant it anyway

Many have planted
We are their produce
They live on, once we speak

I pause to honour
The difference they have made
A vital difference in me and perhaps you

A chosen seed
A seed of love
A seed of mercy

A seed of purple or blue
A seed of thoughtfulness too

YOU ARE My Greatest Inspiration...

You are my greatest inspiration…

Yes there were mountains I thought were impossible to climb…

Had many rivers that I was too afraid to cross…

Years of fears and insecurities bottled up inside me…

Believed for many years the lie I was told, ‘I was never good enough’…

But then you came…

Yes you came…

You held my hands, embraced me at times…

Gosh the simple things you did that left such a great mark on me…

In spite of and despite all, you loved me…

Now I know love can change anyone, it changed me…

Yes you came…

Showed me my legacy that had been waiting for me…

I now walk the path of receiving many promises God made…

I am better, I am greater, and I am an over comer…

Now I stand firm and bold amidst the situation…

You are to me, my greatest inspiration…
