You might be wondering what is so special about cleaning my shoes on this occasion.
Like many other times I have done before, I took up my black pair of dressing shoes and started to wipe them with a soft damp cloth. I then proceeded to applying polish for a lasting shine.
The truth is, its not about the clean pair of shoes.
I was taught while attending the prestigious Kingston College that a dirty shoe is an indication of a dirty mind.
The late Mr. Hemmings would ritually have the entire class stand up while he walked around and inspect our shoes.
If your shoe was not clean or tidy then you would need to exit the class and have it remedied.
This resulted in some students packing their shoe polish and brush in their school bags.
How far would you go to have your hair or face looking good?
Do you place as much emphasis on maintaining a clean mind and heart?
Today I am so grateful for this focus I received as a teenager. I implore my sons and daughters to do the same.
A clean pair of shoes may not say your heart is clean but it sure does make you want to consider taking the time and making the effort to keep your heart and mind clean just as you would any other part of your visible body.
I pray you have a day filled with clean hands, pure hearts and mind free from dirt.
