Far from it...

I am perfect…far from it

I am righteous…oh dear, far from it

I am very loving…far from it

I forgive easily…oh man! Far from it

I love the Lord…now I am a bit closer

I want to live with Him forever…now you talking (BIG SMILE)

I am not perfect, but your love is bringing me closer to it

I am not righteous, but you are my righteousness

I am not so loving, especially to those who hurt me, but I am transformed by your love for me

I use to forgive easier before all this madness around me but you are teaching me daily to let it go

Wow!

It is no wonder why I am able to sleep well at nights and live in peace

Because everything I am not, you are

When I am far from you, I am far from all the good and holy things too

All you ask is that I remain close to you

Thank you Jesus

The Love Story

‘A list of thought provoking comments and questions on love’

• The story of the average young searching for love is both confusing and mixed up, but who says that's the way it always have to be...

• Why do you have to make all the wrong selections before arriving at the right one?

Desperate for love we accept God’s reject...

Why so many people in love aren’t willing to forgive each other?

Love makes communication easier; disrespect makes it harder...

The word love means a whole lot of different things to different people and to the same people at times...

Loneliness should not be your main reason to seek love or a companion...

If the mind loves misery it will not find comfort anywhere else...

There is an element of ‘love’ which says, ‘taken for granted’...

Whatever you love sometimes you want more of, I wonder whether that is the case for those who love the poor?

You will do for love what you believe is impossible for everything else.

A love quest often leaves the chased and the chaser blind to others...

When a child loves you he/she believes you are perfect, but as they grow older we teach them to look for faults and hold on to them...

Love is very encouraging to the heart...

My BEST days are the ones I gave love without partiality.

Dog Quarrel

In the still of the night

The cry of grey hounds filled the air

A fierce quarrel among the beasts

Bark, bark, everywhere

They all were speaking at the same time

So what the other said, I could not hear

Brutal, heated words, they were not clear

You dare not grab a dog by its ear

Though they were near, a distant away

I would not dare, I would not dare

A bite may be better than a bark from the beasts

They quarreled louder dangerously quiet a tease

Like pairs of ferocious women

Bitterly they tore each others’ flesh with growls

Barking the clouds from out the sky

No neighbour to calm this flood of fire

Acrimonious sound bites

‘Brown dawg!’

A fight ensued, I knew it

The quarrel wouldn’t last

Midnight only a distant past

Skimpily clod

I knew I had to

Sweep for my sleep

I grabbed the broom, dashed from the room

Breathing heavily

Blood was in my eyes

Too long, in the middle of the streets

A grave wrong had robbed my sleep

I rushed outside so fast

Two huge stones followed me

I tossed the stones and I wielded my broom

The sacred angry dog pack rapidly dispersed

Leaving a wounded lying still

He was too badly bitten

One quarrel

One fight

One sacrifice

Dogs short of fence

Owners starved of sense

Must a child now pay?

Hiding From Myself

I haste,

I haste,

To find a place,

A place beneath,

In this game of hide and seek,

Hide me from myself,

Make me into someone else,

A heart that is 180 degrees to my mind,

Myself I hid, now I try desperately to find,

I travel where my desires are greatest,

No, not where my Father say is best,

Hide me from myself,

Make me into someone else,

Fear and shame,

Give me a new name,

I detest it,

I dislike it,

Who I am and who I have become,

I can no longer hide,

I must ride my tide,

My thoughts

My mind

My secrets

My stuff

Though not perfect

A seed of righteousness is in me

I am God’s promise for someone’s dream

I must fulfill it

I must live it

I am bringing this game to an end

I want to be free, Jesus is my friend

I am in it, to win it

I am in it, to win it

(God loves us just as we are, come as you are, bring all your broken pieces, bring it all to Jesus, He is calling, He is waiting)

Independence Quotes

1. The spirit of independence was breathing heavily down our necks; we could not contain its fury. We gave in and now we celebrate 49 years of it all.

2. Such great wealth in being independent, if we could sell then it may be priceless.

3. The sweet tune of the Jamaican song, ‘wi love yu, wi luv yu a jah mek yah’

4. We have endured so much suffering and pain. Our fore fathers made such great sacrifices, the price of freedom has already been paid, it is now time to live, preserve it and pass it on.

5. Independence is great for those who know what its worth

6. Its such a funny thing that we believe we are much wiser today yet those who fought for our freedom did so with so little and we have so much and having such a hard time keeping it.

7. The stories of Jamaica’s independence must be told, written in books and stored in libraries and universities so we will rise above our challenges of yesterday and become stronger, better and wiser tomorrow.

Unusual Fencing

I need an edge around me

This time not from mine enemy

I need protection and a line of boundary

Against those who love me

I have come to know

Not only does the evil harm me so

But all too often, those who say they love me

With words and deeds

They sometimes deposit bitter seeds

I need an edge around me

This time not from mine enemy

I need protection and a line of boundary

Against those who love me

A dis-functional culture

Breeding added ill-nature

Robs you of your present

And destroys your future

A fence to help me

Nurture that which is within me

From hostility and strife, set free

‘Tis my earnest plea

Oh Lord, build an edge around me

A Father's Heart

A father gives lovely gifts to help his children grow

A father provides food and books and tells them what they ought to know

A father’s work is dear to him so it’s never done

At times he forgets he needs a break, relaxation, and time for fun

Like a child and his toy

A father pursue his joy

Gifts for dad are hard to find

Because daddy you are special, one of a kind

We’ve tried getting you gifts of varying amounts

But now we know, it really is the thought, the heart that counts

Is your PHONE on?

Four times I tried calling you and four times I got your voicemail…

Seven times I sent you messages and you didn’t return my call…

Sometimes I get a busy signal…

At other times I get your voicemail and your inbox is full…

I began wondering if I would soon get the ‘out of service’ response…

Finally I eventually got to you and told you what I wanted…

Shared with you my expectations of you…

Wrote to you and explained my purpose, my plan…

You agreed and promised to do it…

I called…you answered…I told you what to do…you promised you would…

I awaited your fulfillment of your promise; you gave up, saying you can’t do it…

So I am sending you this blog to tell you I AM STILL WAITING FOR YOU

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.

In sync – Faith and Hope

We‘ll dance even when the music stops

We’ll sing even when the song has come to an end

We’ll paint even when there is no more ink

We are committed to going all the way

We are determined to persevere until something beyond the ordinary happens

We’ll continue even when all logical reason to persist has been lost

I love your bits and pieces

It is not easy to love all the small details about some of the people around us.

Whenever we spend time with some folkes we gradually but eventually realise how much we can’t stand little things about them.

It is for this reason that the second commandment in the Old Testament says we should love our neighbour as ourselves. The truth is many people find it difficult to even love themselves, so those of us who are having hang ups over these persons need to understand this message. As long as the person is not able to love him or herself they are going to have difficulty loving others.

Furthermore, have you ever noticed just how easy it is to love the people you love and similarly how easy it is to hate the people you hate?

Well, that is why it is repeated by Jesus in the New Testament when He said, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’.

Who is our neighbour? Our neighbour is more than the person who lives next door. Our neighbour speaks of everyone, including our enemies.

"You have heard that it was said, `Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." (Matthew 5:43-48, NIV)

The reason God sends the rain on the good and the bad, the just and the unjust is that He is a perfect and Holy God. He also desires for us to be perfect and holy.

We are therefore being called to love the bits and pieces about each other, as difficult as that may be.

The next time you have an encounter where you would react unpleasant to your neighbour, love them. Love their bits and pieces, though tough it may be. You can do it with God’s help. Though I don’t fully agree with some of the things people do around me, I must still love their bits and pieces.

We choose hurt…

Often times when we are close to someone we say they hurt us by means of something they said or did. We take on the hurt because we experienced failed expectations or painstaking disappointments.

This will happen because we are close to the individual. However this is not a case of sparks are flying so you will get burn, rather it is a flowing river and you choose to dive in, you choose to get wet.

If we were to have seen the person’s behaviour from a distant it might not have mattered to us. We would perhaps just over look the fault or the problem and move on or move up.

But too often when we are close to someone and that individual do or say what they will, we choose to wear hurt. In choosing to wear the hurt we take the bad end of the stick, we say well you don’t know what you did to me when you…Whenever this happens the emotions begin to ride the tides of our hearts. The spirit then becomes discouraged and downcast.

I am one of those persons who believe that even in our best and greatest efforts we still offend, if not many, at least some. I have seen governments who did what was best for their people yet were hated for it. Jesus came and did what was Godly and righteous and was hated then crucified for it. I am writing this to help some to overcome hurt, still there may be those who dislike me for it.

I believe when God sends the rain, one man is happy, another is angry. I believe when God sends us the sun, one man is grateful, another man is complaining. We choose our response and we also choose to wear hurt. Some persons may look at this with great cynicism. Perhaps you will say people are hurting you and you have been hurt in the past.

I therefore ask you this question, when you get a release from the hurt you are feeling and carrying isn’t there usually a process of letting go? Even in therapy we are guided to connect with the source of the hurt and to replace the ill feelings with better, a shifting of the emotional response.

We choose to take on hurt, even when no offense is given some will always take it.

Even when an apology is given some will always choose to hold on to the hurt. This message could never be clearer to me, we choose to hold on to it and we choose to let it go. We choose to put on the garment of praise or the garment of hurt and bitterness.

The flip side is that hurting people hurt people. Not many are discerning enough to notice that the child who keeps snapping at his school mates may very well be in need of help. We often take on the hurt from others, while becoming blind to the bigger issue that the person may just need help.

How do we fix hurts? We let them go. We let them go and replace them with better. We let them go and replace them with suitable substitutes of healing, deliverance and freedom. This we do when we embrace the truth of God’s word. The darkness and evil will flee away. No longer will I choose hurt, I choose life, and I choose abundant life.

I am here...You are there...

I am here…

You are there…

But we connect by our phones

Or by our hearts

I am here…

You are there…

But we connect through prayer…

Or by our spirits

I am here…

You are there…

Through the simple words we share

We often know God is near

Speaking To Yourself

I am more than who my mind says I am…

I am more than what my emotions feel…

A fool’s water I will not drink

To a useless vessel I refuse to shrink.

My heart is not ashamed of its Maker

I will be among the world’s shakers

I speak to myself

My secret song, exalt thou the name of the Most High

Soul of mine, seek thou God daily

Heart and strength, worship thou the living God

Evil flee from me, to the west and to the north

Oh God, discharge your angels over me

Walk through the dry places and rain your joy and presence

Slay an evil prey, cause my lips to say-

“God is watching my back”

Restore the joy of loving, serving and living

Cause my eyes to see the mountains, not just the stone in front of me.

Let a bird sing a new song of melodious praise to me,

Let an ant show the works of his persistent hands,

Let a crashing wave meet the earth with thunderous shouts!

For they all live, but they live for you Lord.

My wicked heart, my selfish mind, the sorrowful soul

Knows it was made in Your image
…pause to acknowledge that You are God.

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; - Eph 5:19

What’ yu doing?

“Daddy what’ yu doing?” has become one of Joshua’s favourite questions these days…which usually follows an appropriate answer but before you know it there comes the same question again.

Being a 32 months old father, I have become more conscious of what I am doing at all times, remembering at all times that he is watching and writing his own version of whatever he is observing.

His eyes are keen, his ears are sharp and his mind is amazingly ‘glue-telligent’ that readily sticks to whatever stimulates it.

“What’ yu doing?’ is a very important daily question for me now…I ask myself whether what I am doing is in line with what I ought to be doing…sometimes too much effort and resource is wasted on doing what is urgent and immediate rather than what is important.

What yu doing…

The Teacher’s Hand Writing

It’s all over the board,

Inscribed all over the wall,

All over my mind and all over my heart

My teacher you toil day and night

To ensure the students get it right

Even when parents don’t

You do

Your joy is our success

You desire our best

You use your time, your money and energy

To make us who we must become

Your reward is immeasurable

Teacher your hand writing is on the wall

Though not seen, some read it and live better lives

You go over and beyond what is asked

Your joy is our success

You desire our best

Teacher your hand writing is on the wall

God knows just how special you are

(Happy Teachers' Day 2011)

Empty…

Empty your mind of all the ills so I can fill it with my peace and my will...

Empty your heart of all the aches, pain and anxiety, hush and be still…

Empty your eyes of the tears so I can look into your soul...

Empty your arms of the baggage so I can caress you and have you to hold...

Empty your face of the frowns and sadness so I can replace with a kiss of gladness...

Empty your destiny of all the distractions, too many unprofitable talk and thoughts…

Empty your life of the distress, the disgust, the discouragement and move by faith and love

Empty you on me then let me take your cup and fill it up…

I made you…I know just what you need right now…

It’s your life, don’t second guess, I can do it better than you can and for much less

Marriage of the Moon

The moon got engaged to the rain

Oh no, I am by no means insane

In the brightness of the night

Pure and lovely light

Cool, serene, nature display

Almost took my breath away

On this night all nature will sing

As the precious moon now wears her ring

Fix it Daddy!

Ever so often when a toy gets broken I would hear the voice of my two year old son shouting out,
“Fix it daddy! Daddy fix it”
Somehow I think he believes that daddy is able to fix everything.
I have had to tell him that daddy isn’t superman and even superman needs a little help every now and again.
He is however convinced that daddy is able to fix if not all, most things.
Seeing me conduct repairs on a few of his broken toys has led him to the conclusion that daddy can fix it.

We have troubles and problems that sometimes seem to overwhelm us.
They grow much bigger than we can even think or imagine.
Sometimes the issues we face at school, at home, church or work seem to flood us out and cause us to want to give up.
Then there comes a gentle voice asking us, “Why don’t you ask daddy to fix it?”

The bible says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

Let daddy fix it.

My son soon learn that I wasn’t about to fix all his problems especially the ones he could have prevented.
So right now he has a few broken toys at home that I have no intention of repairing.
He must realise that while he has his father’s covering he must not deliberately destroy what has been given to him.

We are no different when dealing with our heavenly father; we sometimes intentionally create problems, and whenever they become too much for us we throw our hands in the air in utter frustration.
God wants to give you life, but if you intentionally take your own life, you have made matters worse.

Surely God can fix all of our problems, but there are no doubt some that we can fix or prevent on our own. Walk in wisdom and raise the standard of your life, be determined that you were made for better. Make a promise to live beyond your current struggles, pray and ask God to help you to walk in dominion.
