Speaking To Yourself

I am more than who my mind says I am…

I am more than what my emotions feel…

A fool’s water I will not drink

To a useless vessel I refuse to shrink.

My heart is not ashamed of its Maker

I will be among the world’s shakers




I speak to myself

My secret song, exalt thou the name of the Most High

Soul of mine, seek thou God daily

Heart and strength, worship thou the living God




Evil flee from me, to the west and to the north

Oh God, discharge your angels over me

Walk through the dry places and rain your joy and presence

Slay an evil prey, cause my lips to say-

“God is watching my back”



Restore the joy of loving, serving and living

Cause my eyes to see the mountains, not just the stone in front of me.

Let a bird sing a new song of melodious praise to me,

Let an ant show the works of his persistent hands,

Let a crashing wave meet the earth with thunderous shouts!

For they all live, but they live for you Lord.



My wicked heart, my selfish mind, the sorrowful soul

Knows it was made in Your image
…pause to acknowledge that You are God.
