Ships come and ships go
People come into our lives
And so too, they go.
The more we understand
The less we seem to know
We meet people who walk with us
Through the good and bad
Pressing on together, victory is a must
Trained together, worked with each other
Living with expectancy of God's divine plan
Moments of great jubilation
Moments of pain and strife
Moments of trials and tribulation
Moments of overcoming
Moments of liberation
Then one day in this race of life
Running, walking, skipping and jumping
Your colleague, your friend, your family, your neighbour
Hands you the baton to continue Continue your leg of the relay
Know when you have been handed the baton
Your predecessor is out of the race, the relay.
Now your time to run and so you must run your leg well
For you will never see that dear one again until
Until you reach the finish line.
Aim to finish
Finish well so you can join the celebration at the end
Finish well so you can join the Lord of the relay
He ran His and is alive again
Now my friend, though the pain and sorrow lingers
Know God is God of all
In this relay of life
Don't just do it
Do it right
Don't just run
